2012: Introducing..... ME!

This used to be my BobTales blog.  I used to be Amy Bob
(in Grammy-nominated vocal "band without instruments," THE BOBS).

Now I'm Amy Engelhardt again.
But after 14 years of Amy-Bobbing,
I am a lot more dangerous.

Last year, after almost 14 years of professional multi-octave strange-noise making from Los Angeles to Lichtenstein, I left The Bobs to pursue other creative and professional paths.  I am immensely proud of my demented legacy with the group, including but not limited to the hundreds of FLUFFY fans young and old who gave me amazing and sometimes terrifying cat-related gifts over the years.  I thank you humbly but cannot assure your safety in the coming revolution.  ^..^

Although I continue to sing professionally in the classical and pop worlds (see if you can find me in this Comedy Central promo from 2012!), since leaving The Bobs, I've primarily focused on writing (musical and non-musical), embarking on several projects that are now in various stages of fruition.  Returning to my musical theater roots with a vengeance, I wrote the score and co-wrote lyrics for the rock musical BASTARD JONES, which was workshopped in January 2013.  I wrote the libretto for a project based on the music of prolific composer Charles Fox and started work on two other musicals (currently in the cellular stages) with amazing collaborators.

I was honored by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) with the 2011 Burman Award for Songwriting, as well as a MAC Award Nomination for Special Musical Material (for this song, which Bobs fans may recognize).

Branching out even further, I'm halfway to a Masters degree in Arts Administration at Columbia University.  I'm combining my passion for and life in theater and music, my love of language and my Mad Geek Writing and Editing Skills working in arts marketing, copy writing and narrative branding.  I'd been doing a lot of that for clients (including The Bobs) for years, so it's a natural progression.  (And you should contact me if you need great copy, and/or an editor's eye, people!)

THAT'S THE PROFESSIONAL ME.
And you can find out more about that person in either of these two places:

I'll be using this blogspace for more personal musings.  Maybe they will make sense to you.  Maybe they won't.  Maybe something I say will inspire you to do something amazing ("That crazy beeyatch did WHAT? Well, I'm gonna...."). Maybe you will look differently at people who chose a creative life.  (The grass is always greener...)  Maybe what I write will confirm what you already think.   :  )

So come with me to New York.  Or Los Angeles.  Or Decatur, Illinois (where BASTARD JONES workshopped).  Or just inside my brain.  I'll try to keep the cooing about kittehs to a... well, a low roar.

You can sign up to receive this blog on the left side of the page, where it... says so.  I'll also post links to it on Facebook and Twitter (iaretweeting).
